August 16 2021 WL only

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time is from 15:30 to 15:50 UTC. Intermittent. The skies are mostly cloudy with both low and high clouds. The seeing appears to be average or just below. The temperature is 73F ( 22.7C )

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x ( WL )
I can see three spots marking the location of AR12857 in the NW quadrant. Two bigger ones with a smaller pore in the center. The SDO HMIc 4K image shows two more in addition to this. The SDO HMIc 4K image shows several pores associated with AR12853 to the NW of AR12857 but I can't pick any of them up visually. High clouds my be hampering my efforts. I can softly make out some of the fine solar granulation today.

Though I did not observe in Ha I attached a GONG image to show users here the status of the large prominence on the NE limb.

I was lucky to get any kind of observation today.

James

Nice to see your post James :bow

Today was a quick view through and between clouds. I had no real time to study the sun. I was lucky to have gotten the views I did.

Thank you for the interesting description, James. Even a quick glance through a telescope counts towards your task.
