I guess most solar observers are concentrating on the latest AR, AR2859 which is looking promising . Here is a feature I noticed on the south east today.
I noticed what appeared to be a high area on the suns disk edge, so to be sure it wasn't a prominence I took a series of 30 minute animations.
I haven't seen seen anything this size before, the animation seams to indicate that the bulge appears to be a surface feature. I'm not sure what the correct name for this would be, if anybody knows I'd be most interested. I took some Cak images earlier and the same bump can be seen on one of my images.
Martin.

Superb work Martin, that bulge will come round as a smooth worm like filament as it progresses round the limb. I am sure this is associated with an AR region especially if bright in CaK

I would be curious to see this visually. Martin, could you post the CaK image of it?

Re: Bulging Disk 22-08-2021
Thank you for your feedback Alexandra and James .Here is the Cak Image , it does not show any hot spot , only a slight bulge on the disk edge. It shows up on a full disk Ha image too.
Martin
There is definitely some activity on this mornings SDO image in WL

It's only slightly visible in CaK but very prominent in Ha. I could see faculae near that region in white light as your white light image shows.

Re: Bulging Disk 22-08-2021
Looks like a flat prominence from our view-point and not knowing exactly when the images were taken (date/time) shows this in Ha to be the case.
Cak might not show this and WL doesn't show this prominence...
The is a large area of an AR in the S.E. and at 23:00z today 22-8-2021 not all of this is yet visibly over the limb yet.
Thanks Martin for sharing this interesting item.

Re: Bulging Disk 22-08-2021
Terry it was imaged around 2am UTC on 22/08/2021. SDO is showing lots of activity in lots of wavelengths.
