08.23.21 Sun in Lunt50

Post by Ivan »

Hello everybody,

Mosaic of 6 fragments, filmed at about 10 am local time, fairly strong wind. The visibility seemed good to me. Don't you think you oversharp?
I will be very glad for your comments and recommendations.

Ivan

Can't see any over-sharpening issues Ivan - even when magnifying your images on a large screen.

Thanks for sharing your excellent images.

Making mosaic is not easy. They can be destroyed by one/some poor image due to the seeing.
Your mosaic looks very good.

James, after a break (even a short one) in handling and shooting (I don't even know what will happen to me after a long winter) skill is lost and I was afraid of losing my balance.

Pedro, when I process my FD's, I always focus on your photographs because I consider them to be reference. I always have a few of your photos on my phone for inspiration.

Thanks, Alex. I usually do two or three sessions in order to minimize the potential consequences of impaired vision.

Is winter observing totally out of the question for you Ivan? You live in Russia, right? I know it's very cold in some parts of Russia in winter. And then there is the issue of the low sun.

Hi James,

Yes, I live in Russia. You are right in winter we have a low Sun and therefore a very short day. And also cloudy, clear skies are mainly in frosts. I have no experience with solar observations and surveys in winter, and although I have telescope heating pads, I am afraid of damaging the etalon by cooling and heating it.
