23.08.2021 AR2859 held on with a rubber band.

Post by Rusted »

I am struggling with my PST sweet spot ring again.
Added a rubber band for a bit of tilt bias. [Technical term] :D

Well done Chris and unsurprisingly rubber-bands are useful for so many things, as I know only too well..

That's a fine image and thanks for sharing

That's an excellent image :bow :hamster: only thing I would say is go easy on the contrast around the spot, it is looking like a black featureless black hole so I think some picture data is lost. However, as I haven't seen it in real life, I could be wrong and it is a black hole :)

I use a wide rubber band for a grip around the focuser of the SMII60. The original rubber grip broke and came off. The rubber band works fine!

Same here James, where my DS can be difficult to grip on a cold-day, so is surrounded by thick r-bands and for that small cost, could save me a problem if it got dropped... !!

Just an update and thanks for the encouragement.
Several of my earlier images of today [posted on my blog] showed a light bridge of various forms across the umbra.
The image I posted showed no light bridge. Poor seeing conditions [all day] demanded extra processing.
This image shows an example from earlier this morning. Prior to rubber band tilting of the PST etalon.
I would not normally post such a poor image on Solar Chat.

With C-class flares, this region certainly is giving some surprises,
so you are doing well Stu.

Thanks again
