Hα active regions and animation with RC8

Post by GreatAttractor »

Yesterday's results from the RC8/Aries ERF/Lunt 50 etalon setup (since I haven't sorted out the Blackfly-S yet, all shot with Chameleon 3 mono, ICX445). Seeing wasn't particularly good for this aperture, but I managed to capture a few stills and a short time lapse:

I know the seeing wasn't great but the animation is fabulous!! well done, it is amazing how much jiggles around on the Sun over a short timescale.

Nice animation, Filip. What was the visibility?

Thank you, everyone.

Ivan: good air transparency, fast low clouds from time to time. The seeing situation seemed similar to my previous session in May, the conditions were best for 60-90 minutes early in the morning (once the Sun has reached 25-30° altitude), i.e. sub-second values on the SSM for even 10 s at a time. Then it worsened, with only occasional glimpses of fine details. Could be a pattern for this location. I hope higher-fps capture (once I have a tilter for the BF-S) can help with this somewhat.

Hi Filip,

Can you please describe how do you manage to adapt and connect your Lunt etalon with your C8?

Best wishes,
Alexandros
