27th August, SE Australia. Time 2.00 UT (12 noon AEST).
I was imaging AR 2860 today and noticed a new sunspot group (2-3 spots) near the SW limb. It showed up at 540 nm but not so well at Ha wavelength.
Attached are two pics to compare - orange one is at Ha wavelength (Lunt 100 scope), yellow at 540 nm (WO 81 mm refractor). Both pics are single exposures thru a Canon 550d camera. I suspect the new sunspot group will be AR2861 (grey arrow points to this group). Thanks for viewing.
Update: This new spot is now recoginsed as AR2862.

Re: New sunspot ?
It looks like it has developed a bit since I viewed it this morning.

Re: New sunspot ?
Yes john - well "spotted" and I also saw this a couple of hours ago and believe I have imaged it too.
Excellent captures and annotations - which help so much.
Thanks for sharing

Re: New sunspot ?
Thank you everyone - this new spot is now recognised as AR2862 (it will probably disappear around the back of the sun today). Cheers, John W.
