I need help, I can't fit the mosaic

Post by Ivan »

Hello everyone,

I apologize, I am writing to this thread, I really need advice.
I ran into a problem fotomerge in Photoshop does not fold the mosaic completely, only five of 6 fragments are added. This has happened before (but now I have no spare material to try to add new stacks) and now I really want to understand how this can be fixed.
What I've already tried:
I cropped fragments, increased brightness, did deconvolution before adding (usually I do it after), tried different options for assembling a panorama in fotomerge.
In the end, nothing happens, the sixth fragment stubbornly refuses to fall into place.
I will be very glad if someone can help.

Ivan

Looks to be a brighter pane (slightly) to me?

You could try doing the mosaic in 2 parts - do the bottom half then the top half and see if the 2 halves can then be combined, alternatively do it as 2 halves (left and right) and see if that works.

Sometimes this can 'trick' photoshop into doing what you want it to...

Thanks Mark,

Please ignore the brightness I tried and with much lower brightness the result is the same.
I tried to fold the fragment that does not want to fold with two adjacent ones. And nothing came of it, while the rest of the fragments fit together perfectly, but not this last one.

Try using Microsoft Ice, it works like a charm (freeware)

Hi Ivan

Do you have to first set a background size? if this size is not large enough it maybe that the last image sits outside the background so will not stich in place. You could try cropping some of the black background of the last image and see if that does it.

Or as Pedro says try Ice, or another program is AutoStitch I found a link to this on a University astro department web page (can't remember what uni)
when I couldn't get Photoshop or Ice to stich and it worked first time, it is also free.

Cheers Rod

I've also done the trick what Mark Townley said.

What version of Photoshop do you have? I say this because if you have CS5 I can send you the plugin for 'interactive layout', you can then show Photoshop where you want them yourself and PS will then finish off and blend for you.

Alexandra:
As many of us, I am interested in that plug in because I use C5, how can I get access to it?
Best wishes and thanks.
Eric.

Thank you, Alexandra. The method that Mark was talking about did not help me. I have Photoshop CS 5. I would really appreciate if you can send me this plugin. My mail: [email protected]

Hi Ivan,

I use a no-charge utility called iMerge, very straightforward interface and process as shown here. Not nearly as fancy as Photoshop, etc, but I like the KISS principle.

Eric, can you PM me your email address and I will send you the file and instructions tonight after work.

Ivan, I will do the same when I get home tonight :)
I personally could not live without the 'Interactive layout'

Thanks a lot Bob! I will definitely try this program. Your mosaic is incomparable.
