September 3rd - Ha Set

Post by MapleRidge »

Hi all...

My week of holidays is closing out with some clear skies and opportunity to image on Friday and Saturday. Both presented increasing cloud as the noon hour approached, cutting the session a bit short but there was lots of activity to make the sessions worth while. This post covers the Friday session (September 3rd).

I started with the full disk Ha composite using using the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1800Ha solar scope with a 1.6x barlow ahead of the ASI1600MM camera:

I switched over to the Orion EON 130ED scope fitted with the pair of Lunt DSII modules and B1800Ha to image the activity in greater detail. I used the ASI290MM camera with a 1.3x below for the images below. The NW quadrant shows AR2861 nearing the limb as well as a long arc of filaments as well:

AR2863 showed some very nice details, shown below with new AR's just starting to rotate on the disk:

The NE quadrant showed several new regions and filaments:

There were also several prominances worthy of imaging too. This group was on the NW limb:

There was a small area on the eastern limb showing a small surge of activity, and it proceeded to grow over the next half hour, whee it added to the views with the larch arc prom to its south:

That's all of my harvest from the Friday session. I is great to see all the images that have been posted of this increase in activity the past week.

The Saturday session will be posted shortly.
