Sunday Sun September 5th 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

A really nicely active Sun today, with active regions and proms galore! Seeing was below par, the air clarity wasn't great and a lower Sun meant longer exposure times/higher gain, so some of the images, particularly in Ha are a little bit soft and may have been overworked. Anyhow here's the crop from this morning from my driveway.

First up, Ca II K FDs

Thanks Stu, for more of your excellent captures.

Your FD's are my favourite today, as the Ha coloured one, tells me that I need to add my DS to get the better surface detail - as yours has done so well. Been a while since I used it, but now the surface detail seems more important than the proms with my LS60...

Of course the close-up's are excellent too and although at last-night's SDO showed six sets of spots, like yours, mine only showed four-spotted AR's some 12-hours later.

Cheers
Terry

Wow Stuart. All of these are really good and you have the Sun covered today. I especially like the colored full disc CaK and Ha images. They are beautiful!

Many thanks, everyone. Looks like cycle 25 is progressing nicely. It will be interesting to see how the newest active regions develop.

All images are impressive. But the DS images with 2xLS35FHa are really amazing.

Thanks for sharing.

Mine too :). Often under rated, WL views have their own special appeal, especially with complex active regions.
