3-Lights from Monday 6th September 2021.

Post by EGRAY_OBSERVATORY »

Another session on Monday afternoon allowed for some finer-settings of the newbie SODIUM QUARK and its' SharpCap download program. :P

There was a constant high/thin cloud layer with some lower clouds occasionally interfering, but with a nice 21-degsC temperature was nice to work-in with the roof open and allowing for other jobs to be completed, before an accurate and final-alignment of the SkyWatcher 'ESPRIT' scope with the Quark - and to be aligned between the Ha and Cal-K scopes

Also a planned use of the Hydrogen-Alpha Double-Stack to the Lunt 60mm scope was planned and successfully and simply tuned to the first Etalon.

NOTEABLE was the fact the the Ha image with the Double Stack showed the proms quite well, even with low speeds for the surface-detail capture,
so was well-pleased for that and is very likely the DS will remain in place for the foreseeable future and may perform better when the skies allow.

So with the not-brilliant clear-sky, the attached images are shown.
All images so far from the 5th and 6th - are single-frame captures, as insufficient time for processing at the moment, albeit numerous Gbytes of AVI's to be reviewed and/or processed for any better results.

Thanks for looking
Terry

Terry,
I think my favorite of these is the full disc CaK image. It's another " light " I wanna do.

Thanks James for the comment and I do like CaK's too. I will never part with my one, but hopefully the Sodium will come-up to scratch with the CaK, as tonight i was going back to school (like) for processing improvements...

I have other Sodium captures as AVI's which should show the other AR's available and can add them tomorrow or later...

Good Night and thanks
Terry

Many thanks James, Mark T., Stu and Maurits.

I myself am pleased so far, after an evening of learning 'how to' for the processing-stages and still much more to trial and learn.

For the moment, the colours used will continue to represent the lights and maybe at some point grey-scale images will be added or used, but to keep the total amounts of Mbytes of a post - to a reasonable level - as so many dual-colour images are already being posted on SolarChat and of far-superior results, that I will never achieve with just 60mm and 80mm scopes in use.

But its' a start with the on-going mods here...

Terry
