Sept 8 2021 - Entire Disk

Post by Simon2940 »

First off, sorry for posting such a stupidly large image, the full resolution file can be found below. I have squished it down but its worth downloading the big file and just having fun looking!

This is a 90 image multi panel mosaic of the sun using the EvoStar 150 and a QHY5III 174M

I was lucky enough to get the entire disk in one continuous swoop which took about 25mins to capture everything.

The original uncompressed file is 4.9Gb and is 15740x15740px at 240dpi making it the largest image of the sun that I have done to date.

Hi Simon, your FD's show more than enough detail and colouring for the purpose at the sizes posted + inverted and are really quite-excellent too.

Thanks for sharing

Simon,
All of these are awesome but the last one is my favorite. You rule with inverted images!!

Fantastic job, Simon!

Very impressive to get such a seamless mosaic from so many panes at this resolution!

Very nice Simon! I gave up on mosaics a while ago now and just use a big chip camera instead.

at 1200mm focal length with the 4.2x barlow, its a bit tricky. Even the imaging circle of the Quark/Gemini is limited so I dont have a lot of choice.
