09.13.21 Sun in Lunt50 mod

Post by Ivan »

Hello everybody,
Today, literally for 15 minutes, the Sun came out of the clouds, and although a milky transparent veil remained, I managed to shoot a group of ARs receding beyond the horizon. This is the second light of my Lunt50 mod. The visibility was poor, but waiting for the best at this time of year with us is useless.
I still think there is a lot of noise in the images and I scale it down by about 10%.

I will be glad to criticism, thank you.

Ivan

Thanks for supporting Terry, If you open them in a new tab and examine them, the noise will be noticeable. I console myself that this is better than nothing, and this is only a second light, but I cannot say that I like the result.

Ivan, every image you produce is done with absolute care and perfection :bow :bow :bow

Sadly noise becomes more and more of an issue as you increase the scale to higher resolution. I use NeatImage to cover it up but I know others use Topaz AI denoise as well. Only in the exceptional cases of perfect seeing has the noise reduced naturally.

No criticism from me Ivan, it's an excellent image and a great looking scope too!

Hello again Ivan, as you suggested, I opened the three in a "New Tab" and still cannot define any noise, so in any any case is not an issue to criticise.

You say "This is an old refractor William Optics Megrez90." Well I've always wanted one of these and about 4-months was about to buy one to find they are no longer available from new.
I know two who use these Megrez scopes and I have been very impressed with their all-round quality, so maybe I might treat myself to a Christmas-pressy of the William Optics Fluorostar 91 APO Triplet if then available...

Old or otherwise, they will easily last a lifetime if treated with respect...

Best Wishes
Terry
