FDs and prom animations 15th Sept 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

A beautiful morning after some early morning mist/fog lifted and an opportunity to make a couple of short prom animations. Things are really quiet and even the proms showed little movement over 15-20 minute timespans.

First up the FDs in CaK and Ha.

...and a little prom forest with some subtle movements close to the limb.

In addition, here's a three pane mosaic of a random piece of the chromosphere.

Thanks for looking.

A great job with the excellent images and animations and at least makes up for just the one AR.

Thanks Stu.

Stuart.
Your last 3 images are stunning. The mosaic is just so rich detailed and shows a subtle hand at bringing out contrast. Your processing of the Ha images of the proms is fantastic. Any words of advice on how you achieve your jet black background and gorgeous luminescence of the prominences ?

WoW, Stuart. You are an ace at this imaging stuff. All of these are so good it's hard to pick a favorite. You certainly had the sun well documented today and did it beautifully.

Three thumbs up!!! WooHoo!!!

Hi David,
This is a combination image (proms and disk processed separately). This allows the proms to be processed so that they 'pop' by boosting the contrast.

Hi Magnus,
I use ImPPG to align the images. If you head to the library section you'll see some tutorials on how to make animations, including one from me.

I hope this helps.
