Hi all,
I was happy to receive on Friday my new excellent toy for Full disks: ASI1600MM Pro :-)
Here is the first result with todays sun, by which I am very happy. :-)
2021-9-18, Full disk, H-alpha, 18_07_50, UV filter by H- Alpha, on Flickr
By the way, while taking this photo, I had forgotten a UV filter in front of the camera (I was capturing WL just before). Do you know if it can have any improving (I suppose not, since UV is cut earlier by the ERF and/or H-alpha filters) or negative effect in the quality of the capture?
Although not relevant with the sun, yesterday I tried to compare a 8-photo composite of the moon's FD by ASI290MM with a single capture of the moon's FD by ASI1600MM. Although we have quite fewer pixels with ASI1600MM at the final result (size comparison in next photo), I was surprised to see that some details came out even better with ASI1600MM than in the composite photo. :-)
2021-9-17, Composite of 8 photos, Lunt130MT, size comparison by H- Alpha, on Flickr
2021-9-17, Lunt130MT, quality comparison by H- Alpha, on Flickr,
Hope you will like them and the comparison is useful, since I didn't find a post here, or in other forums, by users of Lunt130MT with ASI1600MM.
Best wishes,
Alexandros

Alexandros,
Your image of the sun looks very similar to the visual view I got today but with greater detail and contrast. The weird thing is that I could visually pick out three small disturbances on the disk that I cannot even see in your image.
James.

James.
Could it be our time difference? I am UTC+3, and the photo was some 8 hours earlier than this answer to you and roughly also before your post. When did you observe the sun today?
Best wishes,
Alexandros

Great shots Alexandros! I think regards the UV/IR filter, try it and see if there is any improvement.
Interesting the difference with the moon shots with the 2 cameras. Were they both taken at the scopes native focal length or did you use a barlow? The moon with the 1600 shows considerably more contrast and detail.

Thank you James, Franko, Mark, Terry, Alexandra!
I played a bit more with the colour presentation of full disks and here are the results:

Best wishes,

Both photos taken at native focal length of the scope. No Barlows. My 1.6x Abbe Barlow with the ASI1600 is cutting a small part of the disk with the Lunt130MT.marktownley wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 6:14 am Great shots Alexandros!
