September 25 2021 Observations. WL Only.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time from 14:15 to 14:30 UTC. Considerable high cloudiness, most of the sky. Below average seeing. 63F ( 17.2C )

I left right away after observing the sun and spent the day out with Joy, my wife going to antique stores and out to eat at Huckleberry's in Tryon and later came home with some good beer and wine!

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x ( WL )
I can see 6, actually 7 magnetically, active areas on the photosphere today. AR12872 now across the CLM entering the NW quadrant shows a single spot with an elongated cloud of pores to the NE. Well to it's northwest near the limb I can easily see the faculae to AR12873. I can see no spots or pores within it. Also just across the central longitudinal meridian in the south I see AR12876 and AR12871. Though listed as separate systems magnetically they visually appear as one. With two visible as small umbraed spots surrounded by penumbrae. The SDO resolves these spots better showing the one I see in the SW of the group is actually three. I can see a couple of pores nearby but SDO continuum shows more surrounding the primary spots. Well to it's west near the limb I see the faculae to AR12874 and AR12875, one above the other. I see no spots or pores within them. The SE also shows a patch of faculae. I can see no spots or pores within it though SDOHMI continuum shows a single small pore within it.

I am late posting. Carpe Noctem!

James

Thanks for the report James, a productive 15 minutes. Was sunny here very first thing, but now the sun is above the trees and rooftops the cloud has returned, hoping it will break later on...

An update to your latest James shows that as of this morning/26th, two new AR's have surfaced in the S.E. as AR2877 & 2878.

Thanks for your efforts
Terry

Thanks everyone!

Good luck Ivan on clear skies.

I observed today as well. I'll get the notes out that I took on my phone and post shortly.

James
