Captures from 26th September
Thanks for all the welcomes, some of you will know me from SGL but I am finally brave enough to stop "lurking" and post some stuff here.
I have decided after years of frustration with the weather to minimise my DSO imaging and concentrate on Solar and Lunar work.
I am finally getting through the data I captured this weekend (220Gb), I wasn't expecting too much as, while the seeing was good, it was very windy.
Quite happy with the results though. (N.B, I have rotated images to give a more pleasing presentation rather than the actual position)
All images captured using ED120MM on an EQ6-R
Ha: ASI174MM with Quark (Chromo) + Baader 35nm as EFF
WL: ASI290MM + 3x TV Barlow + Lunt wedge + Baader Continuum filter
AR2871 AR2871 3-panel (2 good, 1 not so good) AR2872 Sunspot (AR2871)

Great work, lovely images !
1) I was wondering if your Baader 35nm H-alpha filter is really enough for 120mm scope ? as an energy rejection filter. I suppose the sun low down and in winter is less dangerous than when its hot and high up in the sky ?
2) What 120mm ED scope do you have ?
Good luck with your imaging.
Thanks,
Magnus

Re 1) I am using a 'straight through' setup and the 2" filter is at the end of a long extension tube so it's a fair distance from the quark.
I have tested the temperature at the camera end of the filter and it is not hot even after an hour. I have been using this setup for four years without problems. I am actually planning to get an external ERF when Baader get them back in stock as I also want to get a Flir Grasshopper (again out of stock for now).
I switched to the 35nm from a UV/IR after reading this thread viewtopic.php?f=9&t=31763
2) It's the Sky-watcher 120ED DS-Pro 900mm f7.5 (f31.5 with the quark)
Cheers,
Rob.
