Spectacular prominence October 2, 2021

Post by ffellah »

Hello all: a good session this morning. Sky started clear then a thin layer of clouds came in making things a bit more complicated. While I am processing other data, I thought I would post images of the spectacular prom giving a show today. I do not see proms like this very often. :D

Franco,
I watched this prom visually from about 17:00 to 17:45 UT visually and found it quite spectacular with changes being seen in it within just a few minutes of time. It was a quickly evolving plasma formation. Your images show it more extensively than I could see it visually, in fact quite close to what the SDO AIA304 instrument shows.

I am a bit late posting today. I got taken out to eat for my birthday and am now just getting around to posting this afternoon's observations.

What time did you image, Franco? Your image picks up a bright pearl-like spot of plasma. I saw one like this around 17:18 UT.
