Big Prom on the Western Limb
It's been a while since I've posted but it's also been a while since I did much solar imaging. I'm at my place in New Mexico but the clouds have not been kind. Last Saturday morning (Oct 2), I got a quick break in the clouds and was able to catch a short video of a massive prominence on the sun. This was taken with my Lunt 80mm Ha DSII scope. The camera I was using ZWO ASI178MM. The image is the result of the stacking of the best 30% of 1000 frames. Normally, I like to stack more but the wind turbulence made seeing pretty bad and I was dodging clouds all morning. The image was processed with Autostakkert!3, ImPPG, and Photoshop. I estimated the prom height to be about 85,000 miles from the surface (using a modified RegleSolaire template).

Robert:
Thanks for sharing your beautiful image.
Clouds and bad weather also has been my always daily environment.
Hope that it gets better for the sake of us the solar fans.
Eric.
