8.10.2021 AR2882 through cloud and trees.
Cloud, trees, PST etalon woes.. Ignore it if you can.
The first image is though cloud. The second though a fork in the trees.
Ellerman bombs suggest I'm not even on-band for H-a.
Watched a rapid incursion into the umbra from the SE.
The large filament north of the AR is highly mobile and rotating anticlockwise.

Re: 8.10.2021 AR2882 through cloud and trees.
Hello Rusted,
I don't know how you image in those conditions. Is that a black hole in the centre ?
What is your imaging scale ? Are you usng a 150mm refractor ??
Your imaging system looks super complex, how did you work it out ?
Thanks
Magnus

Re: 8.10.2021 AR2882 through cloud and trees.
Thank you all for your kind words.
Magnus:
My full H-alpha set-up is listed in my signature:
It is a basic PST mod. Using a Baader, full aperture 160mm D-ERF to reduce the heat load on the system.
iStar 150mm f/10 H-alpha objective in home made, steel tube.
Baader 2" 35nM & KG3 protective filters on 2" extensions ahead of the FT2535 focuser.
PST etalon in AOK Swiss adapters. Baader 1.25x GPC tight against the back of the etalon.
Not in front where it would alter the f/ratio. The PST etalon needs to see an f/10 light cone.
Lunt S1200S2 straight through, blocking filter rather than an elbow.
One of three T-S GPCs on the camera nose. Power chosen to match the seeing conditions.
The popular ZWO ASI174MM USB3 mono camera. Internal SSDs storage in an i7 laptop.
I monitor the camera on a 27" hi-res AOC monitor.
This provides a very large, square, viewing panel of the hugely magnified, sun's surface in SharpCap as seen by the camera.
I usually get over 100fps at 10ms with a 912x912 frame size.
The greatest weakness in my system is the PST etalon.
While it provides highly detailed images, in good seeing, it suffers from a ring-shaped, sweet spot.
This causes a band of better detail across the frame. With brighter, less detailed corners.
So I fiddle constantly with the etalon tuning and tilt.
I work in comfort at my computer desk, in my home made, raised dome. With a very large, home made, equatorial mounting.
Spending many hours imaging whenever the sun is shining. They say practice makes perfect. So I practice endlessly.
I owe everything to my fellow solar telescope modifiers, observers and imagers.
For their shining examples, guidance in methods, software and equipment choice within my budget.
They have saved me years in desperately trying to catch up with their amazing skills.
