Sun FD in H-Alpha and CaK 9th of October 2021
Dear friends,
After 10 days of clouds and lots of rain the sky finally cleared long enough to get a few FD images around noon today. I missed the solar flare from AR 2882 earlier in the day, but the region was still quite photogenic. There were also some nice prom activity.
FD image in H-Alpha using a Coronado 60mm/BF15 w/Beloptik ITF, stopped down to 50mm, Baader 35nm H-Alpha and ASI 178mm mounted on a SkyWatcher SolarQuest. Sun FD in H-Alpha 9th of October 2021

FD image in CaK using a William Optics ZenithStar 61II, stopped down to 46mm, Lunt CaK 1200 module, Coronado 2x CeMax and ASI 183mm camera mounted on a SkyWatcher SolarQuest. Sun FD in CaK 9th of October 2021

Great FD's. I really like the way the limb works, I never manage to make it that clear.

Arne!
These are beautiful! I especially like the colored CaK image. CaK always shows the plages so well! Usually better than Ha shows them and better than continuum shows their facular equivalents.

Thank you very much Ivan and James for your kind comments!
Alexandra: Will do. I'm running an all sky camera from the observatory, but nothing to bee seen yet. It looks like it's going to stay clear tonight so fingers crossed for some nice activity.
Best regards,
Arne

Very nice FD's, Arne! Especially delicate H-alpha. And, you know, I was also late to catch M-flare ((

Thank you very much for your kind comments Leo, Brian and Mark!
The CME hit earth a bit late for Auroras to be visible from my longitude and it looks like Canada and even Northern US got more lucky.
I kept an all sky camera recording all night, but could not see anything but a faint glow in the northern horizon. Good auroras were reported from mid- and northern Norway though.
Best regards,
Arne
