Sun FD in H-Alpha and CaK 11th of October 2021 - including time-lapse
Dear friends,
Here are a couple of FD image of the Sun in H-Alpha and CaK from October 11th.
FD image in H-Alpha using a Coronado 60mm/BF15 w/Beloptik ITF, stopped down to 50mm, Baader 35nm H-Alpha and ASI 178mm mounted on a SkyWatcher SolarQuest. Sun FD in H-Alpha 11th of October 2021
Sun FD in H-Alpha 11th of October 2021 - colorized
FD image in CaK using a William Optics ZenithStar 61II, stopped down to 46mm, Lunt CaK 1200 module, Coronado 2x CeMax and ASI 183mm camera mounted on a SkyWatcher SolarQuest. Sun FD in CaK 11th of October 2021

I also tried a time-lapse in H-Alpha, but was again cut short by clouds. There's also some thin passing clouds during the time-lapse which changes the contrast. Anyway, the resulting time-lapse animation is from 199 recordings each consisting of 400 frames (20 seconds at forced framerate of 20fps). The best 100 from each recording was then stacked in AutoStakkert!3, aligned, sharpened, normalized and contrast-stretched in ImPPG before deflickered in GBDeflicker and colorized in PhotoShop. The final processing step was downsizing to 50% and creating the resulting animation in PIPP at 15 fps effectively compressing the 1h 6m down to 13 seconds.
This time the SolarMax 60 was mounted on an SkyWatcher AZ-GTI in EQ-mode and autoguided using FireCapture. There's a small amount of field-rotation due to poor polar alignment.

Thanks for looking and best regards,

Arne,
These are absolutely beautiful images. The Ha and CaK images are practically perfect. Evenly lit and sharp but not over sharpened. The color really enhances them.
Two thumbs up!!

Thank you very much, Franco, James, Maurits and Alexandra!
James: The SM60/BF15 is performing very well after I replaced the ITF and upgraded the focuser.
Alexandra: Lots of different things going on. I only wish I could get some longer runs without interfering clouds and some rapid large scale changes :-)
Best regards,
Arne

Nice to hear Arne. In time I am sure I will have to replace mine as well. I just wonder how long the stock ITF will last.

Great images and the animation shows very nicely the boiling spicule field. It’s interesting to see how relatively still it becomes within the bounds of the large active region.
Thanks for sharing.
