13/10/2021 Sun Protuberances Animation
Hi all
Attached animation of a pair of protuberances taken with 110 shots from 9 34 to 11 09 CET, 13/10/2021.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/carlocaso ... ed-public/
This is the configuration used:
Optics : Tecnosky 80/480 Apo + ZWO EAF + Televue Barlow 31,8 mm 2x
Mount : Ioptron CEM70G & Ioptron TriPier;
Filter : H alfa Daystar Quark Cromosphere;
Filter : IR CUT Baader Planetarium 2”;
Camera : ZWO ASI 174 MM;
Equivalent focal lenght : 4000 mm.
Software : FireCapture, AutoStakkert3, ImPPG, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere
Casalecchio di Reno - Italia
44° 29’ 29” N
11° 14’ 58” E
Visibility was not good; unfortunately I don't know how to measure it, and I don’t have a special instrument. Could you please suggest a solution to measure the state of the sky?.
Sorry for my bad Google transistor english
Carlo

That's a stunning animation looks like a tug of war going on.
I'm not sure how you measure visibility but some people use an SSM to gauge the seeing conditions

Re: 13/10/2021 Sun Protuberances Animation
An excellent animation Carlo.
As for seeing conditions without any electronic devices at the observers location, I simply would give marks out of 10.
10 = Perfectly clear-blue skies with no obvious air-movement/winds/contrails etc., at any altitude.
1 or 0 = Don't even bother to use any telescope or even the Mk-1 Eyeball, as usually total cloud-cover + plus heavy rain/wind/snow or even possibly the Sun (or any other heavenly-body) is being totally-obliterated by trees, buildings or some other structure and such as below the horizon too ???
Anything in between, really just needs a description of any "seeing" problem - experienced.
Besides electronic-devices can and do go wrong/give wrong readings for whatever reason...

Thanks Terry for describe this measure scale; on web i also found Antoniadi scale based on 1 to 5 level.EGRAY_OBSERVATORY wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 9:26 pm An excellent animation Carlo.
