Sun in Ha and Ca II K 31st October 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

Another brief window in the weather this lunchtime and a chance to image in Ha and Ca II K. I settled on FDs rather than trying to image in hi-res, given the time of day. I did set up towards the end of the session to image in WL (430 nm in my case), but clouds appeared as if from nowhere to spoil the view. As was the case yesterday, within minutes of packing all my stuff away the rains came.....it's now blowing a gale and pouring down.

First up, Ca II K FDs in mono and colour.

...and the Ha FD in mono. Unfortunately not entirely uniform.

Here's a closer view of a lift-off prom on the NE limb.

Thanks for looking.

Stuart,
I always enjoy your CaK images and that rising prom shows more detail than the mere mottling I could see visually at low power in my SMII60 today.

Thanks for sharing.

James

Many thanks, everyone. Much appreciated.

The weather here, now, is absolutely dreadful. Hopefully things will settle down again later in the week. Thursday looks promising.
