November 2 2021 White Light Quickie!

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time is around 16:30 UTC. The skies are almost overcast. The temp is 52F ( 11.1C )

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x ( WL )
I can see three active regions on the solar photosphere today. AR12887 is visible nearing the SW limb as a single spot surrounded by faculae. Even using this low of a magnification the penumbra can be seen. AR12891 is visible just across the CLM as three spots with two having visible penumbrae. Due to it's location on the disc no faculae are seen. AR12893 is visible in the NE quadrant by a single spot bearing a penumbra and weakly visible faculae.

Carpe Lumen!

James

Is that SolarMonitor image a little over-enthusiastic James?

Only three numbered AR's were visible around mid-day/Z that I could see and no other numbers were mentioned elsewhere other than those you have mentioned ?

Here the seeing was very clear at times, but slightly turbulent, so was about to try a Revolution R2 camera in the mini-obsy, but immediately a power-supply snag has meant I have had to repair the camera's power-socket and maybe tomorrow if clear, will try again for WL only at present.

Thanks for the report James!

Terry, the SolorMonitor site uses multiple band-pass filters and magnetometer data, which may not be visible as much but they do get NOAA numbers.

Thanks James. Quite a few clear skies for me at work this week, although I have been able to observe Jupiter and Saturn with the 100/800 which finally arrived. Very pleased with the scope, hoping to get it on the moon later in the month fingers crossed.
