Just Ha FDs today 3rd November 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

Sooo...frustrating this morning with blue sky everywhere except where I needed it to be. A long white cloud seemed to drift sideways over the solar disk for ages and when the breaks came the seeing conditions were quite variable. Eventually after a lot of cursing I did finally manage to capture my 9 panes required to build a FD mosaic. Not ideal.

Anyhow here's the resulting disk in mono and colour.

Ever the optimist, I set up to run a few off in Ca II K, but after waiting a further 30 minutes and with no real prospect in sight of any clear weather I abandoned my efforts. Maybe next time. Tomorrow looks promising.

Thanks for looking.

Stu.

Many thanks, Alexandra. I guess you've got some clouds in the wrong place today. It's certainly getting tougher as the season progresses.

Nice results Stu, it has been sunny when i've been at work. Although the 100/800 is here now, and a couple of nights this week i've been able to get it out by 6pm and doing a bit of dark side with Jupiter and Saturn. No real cool down etc, and peeping the planets between the trees, but i'm very impressed at the up in quality with the lZOS compared to the 100mm Tal, certainly on the planets, it will be next year before I get to compare the scopes solar wise...

Thanks, Mark.
Sounds like you've got a nice new toy to play with. It will be interesting to see the results of your comparison.

Great job Stu, the worse the conditions, the more valuable the result! Capturing a mosaic is like a lottery, until the very last it is not clear whether there will be a winning ticket.
