Solar images 4th November 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

We had such a beautiful blue sky this morning (and it's set to continue through the afternoon), although the seeing conditions were below average with the limb looking like shimmering water making hi-res quite a challenge. Spicules were lost completely.

Here are my resulting images in Ha and Ca II K at various scales.

'Plasma ball' filament on the western limb. Note the lack of spicules as a result of shimmering seeing.

Likewise with this image of the large filaprom in the south west.

BTW...my magnetometer is going wild with lots of fluctuating activity following the CME and G3 storm. I'll post data later when the event has completed.

Thanks for looking.

Stu.

These are gorgeous Stuart :hamster: :bow I can almost imagine the bright ring highlighting the penumbral ends in your Halpha too.

Just set up for a lunchtime view and got to start imaging and thick cloud cover? hopefully it will clear again ;)

You got the bright ring around a spot in CaK! You have met the challenge!! That filaprom on the SW limb in Ha looks great too!!

Nice images Stu. Thanks for the views. I am under rainy skies so far today.

All excellent imaging, Stu, but in my opinion the filament is the killer shot. Amazing !

Excellent captures Stu, showing much detail.

Keep an eye on the S.E.Limb as an Flaring AR is approaching over the next 24-hours or so... A nice prom from that is attached. :hamster:

A very nice collection of images Stu! One of my colleagues at work said to me yesterday 'I bet you wish you were at home with your telescope...' He was right... Cloud for the weekend too.

Great pictures, Stu!

I liked filament and FD very much, however all your works are impeccable and are an example for me.

I understand in what difficult conditions you worked, I also lost a layer of spicules on my limbs due to poor visibility, everything is bubbling and the limb looks like a circular saw blade.

Ha..ha..Mark. I’ve had many similar occasions at work where I wished I was on my scopes in beautiful sunshine, and my colleagues knew it :)
