November 5 2021 Observations. WL Only.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

The session time is a very short 16:30 to 16:40 UTC. The skies are overcast with thin high clouds with some lower middle level clouds underneath them. The seeing seems about average, it's hard to tell. The temperature is 41F ( 5C )

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 41.5x ( WL )
I got three active regions on the white light photosphere today. The new AR12894 is visible very near the SE limb as a single spot surrounded by faculae. I can see both the umbra and penumbra of the spot with a close look. AR12893 is visible just east of the CLM in the northern hemisphere and shows a spot with umbra and penumbra. A pore is seen just NE of it with a close look. AR12891 is visible as three small spots with the smallest being the tip of a triangle pointing SW.

The fine solar granulation is barely visible and takes a close look to see at all.

Happy Friday everyone! May your weekend be a sunny one.

James

James, how glad I am to see your report again !!! Although you only had 10 minutes, you did a great job.
It's pretty cool yours, even here it is extremely warm :) +10 C, although last year the snow fell on 18 October. I wish you a fun and sunny weekend!

Many thanks James for your quickie - which confirms exactly my brief WL-visual earlier today, even though very clear-blue skies, but busy with getting closer to imaging again with the new gear.

Thanks vm and have a good weekend.

Ivan,
Thank you very much. A basic visual is better than no visual at all. Saturday doesn't look good either. Cloudy weather predicted. Sunday looks better. Tonight is forecast to reach 2-3C and tomorrow night -3C.

Terry,
It's nice to hear you do visual too. Good luck with the new gear and I anticipate your images, especially the sodium ones. I hope to see a 4 light spread from you soon! :-)

Lovely to hear your short report James. Gosh -3 degrees! we still have temps around 10-12 degrees and the leaves are just starting to change a nice colour, nowhere near winter yet. However, it is wet and windy the default UK weather ;)

Alexandra,
Lately the weather here in the North Carolina mountains has been a bit colder than average and cloudy. I am hoping for a sunny day tomorrow. We are just past peak color here.

Blessings,
James

Good report form Friday James :bow

We have had a cool days (5-6C) and nights in the -3/-5C range all week and a lot of cloud. Most of the leaves have fallen here too, so it is looking like a typical November. A lot of snow fell in places last week, bu we only had a few flurries in the air so harvest has continued on in full swing. If I believe the weather forecast, it is to be back into the low teens early in the week with a lot of clear skies before dropping well below seasonal later in the week.

Brian and Mark,
We are just past peak color here. I did observe in two lights today and I will post the results here in a little while.
