Chilly fingers and stiff wires on Nov 6

Post by gabrieli »

The temperature wasn't really that bad (10˚C) but the events I saw gave me optimism about this session and made me forget the slight discomfort. Seeing was variable, sometimes producing an image with blooming details popping in and out of focus which sometimes changed to jittery images. The best seeing happened early in the session and worsened as clouds moved in. Seeing between clouds was very bad but imaging through thinner sections of clouds seemed to settle the seeing down. I used an AR152 with either a 3X telecentric + Quark Combo or Standard Quark for the images below.

Thanks, Terry, Brian, and Ivan for the comments.

Often, I can't tell from the raw image whether sharpening will work well or not. I also said "O, wow"
Then, I also realized that my time for comfortable imaging is also almost over this year and I regret that the sun wasn't more interesting
this past summer. At least I learned that with some processing, even in less ideal conditions, you can produce good images.

Sunday (today) looks like a better day than Nov 6 and I'll try to image some of the same features.

Lou

Nice work Lou! That prom is really nice and there's a lot of depth and detail in and around that filament.
