November 7th Session - Part 1

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

I am experiencing a relatively warm fall and this past Sunday was a nice day to be doing some solar observation/imaging without the need for winter coats  In addition to sunny skies the seeing was relatively good too for most of the morning. I was hoping to do CaK images as well, but I lost time doing a last minute mount repair and skipped that part of the plan.

There was a lot of activity on the disk and limb both. The fist image is the full disk composite taken through the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1800Ha solar scope and captured with the ASI1600MM camera with a 1.6x barlow:

After the full disk capture I set the Lunt Solar Wedge up on the Orion EON 130EF scope and a 4x barlow wit the ASI174MM camera top image the main areas of WL activity:

The last part of the session used the pair of Lunt DSII etalons as a double stack mod to image the Ha activity in greater detail. The ASI290MM camera was used with a 1.3x barlow for the images below. First was a new region rotating onto the NE limb, which later was assigned number 2895:

AR2891 was nearing the western limb and was accompanied by several filaments and proms:

AR2893 was just north and west of the disk mid-point:

The final AR was #2894 which was found on the SE quadrant:

I have to finish off the prom captures and hope to add them to the post later today.

These are a really nice run of images Brian. I can't wait to be able to get out imaging again properly. With a low sun and what seems like weeks of non descript cool, grey, cloudy autumnal weather, solar has been in short supply for me apart from the virtual variety.

A really nice set of images, Brian. It’s a pity you couldn’t manage any in CaK, but what you did capture in WL and Ha look superb.
