November 10 2021 Observations

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time is from 16:20 to 17:00 UTC. The skies are mostly clear but with some high clouds. The seeing is fair. The temperature is 66F ( 18.8C )

Coronado SolarMax II 60 DS. 16x and 25x ( Ha )
Today I can see three active regions in the Ha chromosphere. AR12893 in the NW is visible mainly by it's spot. It's plage is small and barely noticeable. AR12894 is now nearing the CLM in the SE and shows it's spot west of a bright plage which shows a filament within it with a close look. Two easier filaments flank the AR. One to the east and one to the west. AR12895 is easily seen in the NE thanks to it's bright plage. A thin bent filament is seen with a close look just to the NE of the plage. Another is seen further to the NW. Two filaments are seen very near the NE limb. The southernmost of these is easy and fairly dark.

I notice two prom areas on the limb. A small group in the NE and another two close together on the western limb. Neither are very bright in double-stack.

The mottles are visible across the disc.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x ( WL )
I can see 5 active regions/disturbances on the white light photosphere today. AR12893 in the NW is visible as a single spot sporting umbra and penumbra. Faint faculae are seen in it's vicinity. NW of it near the limb is a small brighter patch of faculae. AR12894 in the SE is visible only as a single spot. I can see that it's umbra is in two pieces with the larger piece to the north of the smaller one. A penumbra surrounds them. AR12895 in the NE quadrant is visible by it's three spots. A pore is barely seen north of the center spot. No faculae can be seen to this system. A small facula is seen east of AR12895 very near the limb. The SDO HMI continuum image shows a single tiny pore within it that is beyond my sight.

The fine granulation of the photosphere can be seen.

I am posting from notes and memory late again. Goodnight folks.

James

Always appreciate your detailed posts, James. Nothing but rain and clouds in the upper Midwest Wisconsin today. We are rapidly moving from wonderful Fall colors to barren trees and my yard covered with wet leaves.

Jordan,
We are past leaf peak color here in the western North Carolina mountains and the leaves are rapidly falling from the trees here too. I have to keep ahead of them with the leaf blower, rake and mower.
