Wings on Fire

Post by SoumyadeepMukherjee »

No, its not a real fire on the airliner, neither its a huge prominence. This is an optical illusion caused by the hot fume coming from the airliner's exhaust. This image of captured earlier this year in the month of January during sunset.

Exif: f/11, ISO 100, 1/500 second, 600mm
Gear: Nikon D5600, Sigma 150-600c Lens
Location: Kolkata, India

Hope you enjoy the view!

Yes indeed, the stuff that leaves trails as water-vapour in the skies is back in anger - as all the flying gets back to normal.
I saw much of that this evening during a night sky session, with one jet crossing the high-Moon leaving its' fumes behind. :o

An excellent capture showing why...

Thank you Terry! ☺️ Yes, I too saw and captured an airliner transiting the moon, and it looks amazing! Solar transits bring more drama to me! 😁

Superb image. I bet the pilot and crew would love this photograph if they knew.

Great transit shot :bow

I'm curious to know how far you were from the aircraft for this pic...is it a take off/landing situation?

Thanks,
Brian
