Nov 19th Ha FD

Post by MapleRidge »

Hi everyone...

I was hoping to get more time to image on Friday with the clear, cold skies that we started the day with, and though I did not get home for lunch until after the noon hour I figured I still had time. I was planning to take the afternoon off to work on the new observatory construction, so what could mess up this plan? Well, long story short Windows decided it needed to do and upgrade when I was ready to start connecting the camera and and this took a half hour  By this time there were more clouds drifting through and the sun had moved far enough west that I was ready to call it quits. Once the computer booted I figured I'd do a full disk set and then get back to carpentry work.

The image below is a composite of separate disk and limb exposures through the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1800Ha DS solar scope, captured with the ASI1600MM camera with a 1.6x barlow:

Friday was also the first day that snow stayed through the day, and with most of the leaves off the trees it is looking more winter like:

I was glad to get the full disk images despite the issues that slowed me down at the start.

Take care everyone,
Brian

Don't you just hate it when that happens? I've had the same thing occur, again just at the wrong time.

Looks like winter has arrived, Brian. Not the best time for construction, but I guess this time of year gives you a bit of a reprieve farming wise.

Nice FD.

Never let your computer do the update when it wants to, we have ours set to do it when you close down ;) I would get so frustrated if it did it just before a solar session :(

Its a great full disc Brian, and the snow looks so lovely especially in the sunshine as it is so bright. We had a lovely walk through a local wood this morning and enjoyed the colours :)

Stuart, Alexandra, and James...

Thanks for your comments and feedback, always appreciated :bow

Stuart...still lots of farm activity going on and it is the planning season for 2022 for the next 6-8 weeks, so still not a lot of free time for me. The fact it is dark when I get home pretty much limits me to weekends and the occasion afternoon that I can get away to work on it. I'd like to be much further on, but can't complain too much ;) The new dome has been delayed into the spring due to supply chain issue and yet to be determined impact form the flooding in British Columbia earlier this week. I am going to install the POD dome for the short term to be able to use the new structure...just wont have the slit/zenith viewing convenience.

Alexandra, I didn't plan to let it update but when I was having trouble getting several USB accessories to be recognized I did a restart which usually fixes that issue but I didn't know that it was going to do an update when I reset it :o Eventually most everything got up and running

James, I expect others have had some snow as well but maybe I'm the first to advertise it ;) It has melted today, so just mud around the yard and it ain't very pretty

Excellent capture Brian and the snow scene is possibly what might happen here, but it won't now affect observing from the new obsy.

Updates can be a pain, but a least you succeeded eventually.

A very nice disk Brian. Good also to see your observatories in an almost winter season.

Nice disk Brian! Good to see a picture of the build, and also your first white over of the season. We had our first real frost of the winter last night.
