21Nov - With help from Alexandra I figured out the extension tubes needed to get the HA Solar Spectrum Suna to work on the C11 fitted with an ARIES D-ERF. The setup -
The SS Suna is a 0.65 +/- 0.1 Angström version https://alpineastro.com/products/solar- ... r-aperture.
I was able to get some filament images. I was not impressed the images. They are inferior compared to those I obtained on the C11 with my Quark Chromosphere etalon. Maybe it is the less than ideal seeing condition.
We are in the rainy season and I will need to seize every opportunity to take more pictures. This is my first time using a Solar Spectrum product and I am grateful for any comments/suggestion to improve the setup.
Thanks.
Alfred

Alfred, did you take any images with the Quark so we can see the comparison? is it the bandwidth or the clarity you are not happy with? Did you investigate the temperature settings?
It looks a lovely filament

Thank you, Alexandra,
Unfortunately I didn't take any image with the Quark during the 21 Nov session. I am not happy with the clarity. They look "dirty". I have tried different temperature settings and did not notice any significant improvement. Will do more testing.

Thanks for your comments. I will certainly share my findings.
To all,
As the SS Suna is a relatively new product, there are not many images taken by users. Do let me know if there is anything you want me to try out.
Cheers.

Re: 21Nov - First images with a Solar Spectrum Suna
I find it takes a few sessions to really understand the idiosyncrasies of any new setup/kit and get the best out of it, so don’t give up hope yet
