22.11.2021 You call that a filament?

Post by Rusted »

My D-ERF and objective was dewed up all morning despite 3 hours of several heater bands and a hair drier. [First overnight frost of this winter.]
After baking the scope sideways over lunch I returned to clear optics but the sun grazing the house ridge. Sniff.
One image for five hours of playtime. It's great to be back in the observatory after weeks of overcast!
A complete amateur! :D

Your persistence paid off. Nice image, captured under challenging circumstances.

Well, on the plus side you can see the filament even if it be a bit foggy :) winter is a tough time for observing

Indeed Chris - other than the foggy optics and the image, you have done well to persist and produce a well-nice close-up.

Thanks for sharing

Chris, I liked the image. In winter, I especially admire those who continue to observe and photograph.
