AR2898 SEEMS TO BE FLARING TODAY 25-11-2021

Post by EGRAY_OBSERVATORY »

The heading says it all and with at least 10 spots and more, an interesting layout developing very nicely over the last 24-hours. :seesaw

More action expected soon approaching the Eastern Limb... :bow

That does look a complicated shape, the more complicated the more the lively :)

Certainly is a fairly unusual shape for the AR2898 complex, but then we have seen the long/large filament in the south as also unusual.

I didn't get lucky enough to get a flare in today's 2 hour session. At 540nm the AR12898 complex looks pretty much as the SDO image shows it.

Thanks Terry.

Thanks James and the picture I saw earlier elsewhere seems to show minor-flaring from AR2898.

Depending on the polarity of all these sets of spots, a larger flare is quite likely.

My only two slightly successful captures today, show much as the SDO image shows, but of course the SDO is far superior.

Cheers
Terry

Looks a nice active region Terry, have you tried 2x2 binning with the camera? It will help with the winter seeing.

I did try that Mark and can't recall the results, so will look back on the mini-obsy pc to see what it captured.

Thanks for mentioning that.
