28 Nov FD. Recalibrating my equipments
I am recalibrating my equipment and refining my work flow for full disk with my Quark. What do you think? Solved most of the sweet spot problem due to uniformity but still got some bad spots on my pic.
Minh.

I also took a small animation. Did not get a lot of movement but it's a good start I guess

Both of those are excellent Minh, you seem to have the full disk sorted!

Re: 28 Nov FD. Recalibrating my equipments
Nice one Minh! Are you using IMPPG for your batch processing? I noticed the “dancing bullseye” that I sometimes get with IMPPG in animations as well and sometimes changing the mode from CPU + Bitmaps to GPL/Open GL (I think those are the two modes) will avoid that little artifact. If not I simply clone it out in any frame it displays in. It usually doesn’t show up in every frame.

Re: 28 Nov FD. Recalibrating my equipments
Thanks, Mark. I still want to try and find a cropped FOV with better uniformity. Maybe will rotate the camera a bit tomorrow and see if it works. I doubt it will though since the disk already quite big and the bad spot is right in the middle.marktownley wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 11:54 am Both of those are excellent Minh, you seem to have the full disk sorted!
Thanks Franco.
I am using IMPPG and PixInsight for batch processing. IMPPG does a very good job with curving and deconvolution and aligning (best in class I must say, especially it's free) but the result from IMPPG can magnify the un-uniformity giving the disk a "mottled" look. PixInsight step in to save the day with it HDR compression . The dancing bullseye IMHO is due to hot pixel that get ringing due to the deconvolution process rather than an artifact of the processing engine (deconvolution has a tendency to add a dark ring around high contrast edges). On my previous camera (a cooled 294C) the problem is more pronounced when I forgot to turn on the cooler. Maybe I'll test this theory by taking dark frame to calibrate my light and flats, see if it works.rigel123 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 12:50 pm Nice one Minh! I’ll be interested in your results on that bullseye, I think you might be right about the hot pixel, I’ll keep an eye on that in further captures. I never see it when working with single captures, it only pops up when batch processing in IMPPG, which I agree, is a wonderful program!

Re: 28 Nov FD. Recalibrating my equipments
I tested it on a single frame and sure enough, after the hot pixel is removed with the help of cosmetic correction in PixInsight, the bulleyes is gone.rigel123 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 2:40 am I’ll be interested in your results on that bullseye, I think you might be right about the hot pixel, I’ll keep an eye on that in further captures. Curiously enough, the most of the hot pixels is not visible on the lightframes except for a few (single frames has a lot of them). I guess most of the stationary hot pixel will get averaged out with aligning and stacking. Anyway, I'll try to capture and use dark frame with my light sub to see if it works.
Minh.

Yeah. North is to the right. I am not paying close attention to orientation. I think I'll get some time to educate myself on this.
