before I start, please know that absolute none of this travel is being paid for by any donor funds to CBSAP. (my specific guidelines for conference appearances or travel beyond 3 hours from Atlanta are listed here and require that the invitee pay all expenses. http://www.stephenramsden.com/charlieba ... rence.html)

Now, after a meeting with a very prestigious local Institute concerning future plans tomorrow I have the distinct pleasure of having been invited to Toronto, Canada for the ASTROcats show this weekend, then one day home and its off to Tunisia where I will be meeting with one of SolarCha!'s own favorite solar imagers Professor Pedro Re of the University of Lisbon, for 4 days of lectures and outreach in Tunis!

Then 2 days home and its off for 8 days at the Starlight Festival in Big Bear Lake, California where I will be doing 3 local schools during the lead up week and then the weekend at the biggest festival ever put on in Astronomy! One day back home and then its off to North Queensland, Australia to meet up with my favorite Aussie Rob Black for a month long outreach extravaganza. We will be joined by Brian Stephens and Andy Lunt of Lunt Solar Systems, and Steele Hill of the Goddard Space Flight center SDO/SOHO program.

The middle of July will bring an appearance at the ALCON convention in San Antonio and then in August I have been invited to Edmonton for a big show up there for the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.

Then of course, the school year starts again and I get to come back home and do my favorite part of all this, visiting middle schools in my state and teaching kids about the wonders of science.

I promise that I will represent all of our outreach and solar astronomy wishes to anyone who will listen and hope that any locals will make a point of hooking up with us in one of these cites!

Ill

Fantastic stuff!!
You will certainly appreciate visiting the different countries and experiencing first hand the social/ diversity of the various locations.
I for one wish you well in all your outreach programs. Keep up the good/ great work as long as you can.

fantastic places you will be visiting - you wont know if your coming or going. BTW you will appreciate the southern skies when you get here, not just the solar aspect. wish you well

Well I'm guessing you will be flying into Brisbane. If you need a hand in Brisbane let me know but Rob probably has everything well organised.

Correct Derek and Alan,

Stephen will be flying into Brisbane (not by himself - but with the help of an aircraft! lol) then transferring to the Townsville connection and arriving in Townsville on Sunday 1st June at 10:55am. Interested in helping me greet Stephen at Townsville Airport?

Then the drive down to Home Hill to the Burdekin Motor Inn, where Stephen will probably crash and burn for a few hours and then the "WELCOME TO THE BURDEKIN" bbq will be held at my place.

Then Monday 2nd June - IT STARTS!!!! Stephen will be part of the Home Hill High Parade, then off to our local radio station SWEET FM for am interview at 10:15am. Here is the link to SWEET FM where anyone can listen to the interview via the Web http://www.sweetfm.com.au/about-us.htm or look for SWEET FM in the TUNEIN radio app!

Oh yeah....did I mention the tour was completely booked out!

Hope to see as many of you as possible!

Reading this from my hotel room in Tunis this evening at 10:30 PM.

I'm almost done with my warm-up foreign country visit and cannot wait to get to the Burdekin!!

Pedro Re and I are having an absolutely fantastic time here! These Tunisians are the friendliest people on earth and they are rabid astronomy fans!!

Hey Stephen just a few things you should know before you get here, you will have to learn to call everyone 'mate' and a normal greeting is 'how ya goin mate', also you finish a sentence with 'eh', oh and another thing you will have to keep a close eye out for 'drop bears' they are very prevalent here in Nth Queensland and they can be quite dangerous.

The Burdekin locals are getting excited.

Here's a little something that one of the local ladies made. A complete and utter surprise to me.

Just when you thought you'd seen everything - along comes Australian Chapter of the CBSAP CUPCAKES!!!!! The detail in the icing is incredible (and extremely yum!)

Don't think they'll survive until Stephen gets here, so better had ask nicely for some more.
