A little solar outreach on International Sun-day

Post by Carbon60 »

The conditions were kind early this morning on International Sun-day, although fairly soon things deteriorated to become patchy and somewhat hit & miss. It looked like rain at one point. Thankfully I was able to show a few friends and neighbours what the Sun looks like in Ha before the clouds rolled in.

I also managed a quick AVI of the proms using the 150/Lunt 35, before the Sun became unobservable.

No chance of anything now, unless the conditions really improve, which is looking less and less likely!

Thanks for looking.

Stu.

Many thanks everyone.

It was very enjoyable and a great opportunity to speak about our hobby to people with no experience in this area. Some of my friends had done a little night time astronomy, but none had seen the sun in Ha before. Lots of ooohhs and aaahhhs!

Cheers

Stu.

Stu, thanks for the link to your Flicker page. Outstanding images there. That mod rocks. Are the HiRes images comming from the mod?

Hi Joe,

Yes, all my recent hi-res images (for the last couple of months) have been with the 150/Lunt35.

Thanks for the compliments.

Cheers

Stu.

Hi there Stu! Thank you so much for having a solar event and sharing the science of solar astronomy with your night time friends. They didn't know what they were missing! lol
Hope you'll have another event next year for International SUN-day 2015 on the summer solstice June 21st!
Clear skies friend!
