Weather was less than ideal west of the Cascades: high wispy clouds made for poor transparency most of the day - but produced some spectacular sun halos.

Toward the late afternoon, things improved significantly. Here Goldendale Observatory State Park Interpretive Specialist Troy Carpenter shows a family from Portland, Oregon the setting sun via an HD microscopy camera television display.

The instrument is a double-stacked Coronado 60 mm filter system on an ED80 telescope, which will soon be supplemented by a double-stacked Lunt LS152...

Only stardust in the wind, some fine and some less fine scopes, filters and adapters as well. Switzerland 47 N, 9 E, in the heart of EUROPE :)
