Requesting local contacts for Solar outreach people
OK Gang, in keeping with the refocused direction this page is taking towards sharing science with the community, I am compiling a list of people all over the US and the world that are interested in replying to contacts about solar astronomy outreach events.
I get several requests per week outside of my 3 hour drive range that I have to say no to and I would like to be able to recommend these people to local Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project volunteers that are willing to do outreach.
Nothing big, as long as you want to do a lecture or setup any sort of SAFE solar viewing equipment, you are in. (No religion, No politics, No egos)
Please list your name, your general location and your email address here so I can compile a list and publish it on the main pages.
Thank you. Stephen
we can do it, and do it better, if we all work together..

I'm interested Steven, located about 100km West of Sydney Australia- haven't had any experience in outreach but willing to give it a go- I have a few Ha scopes and a couple of WL set ups.

Re: Requesting local contacts for Solar outreach people
Steven,
You can use me as a point of contact for any requests from NE Oklahoma/NW Arkansas and potentially SW Missouri depending on location. There are a fair number of us in the Tulsa metro area who have solar gear and are already doing outreach astronomy on a regular basis. I have personally been handling requests from school and Scouting groups for years, and have the equipment and experience to handle groups.
Now that I've got my Ha scope back in order, I can add that back to my rotation again. I will plan to add a second Ha rig when I can, though it will not be a dedicated solar scope this time as my SM60DS is.
I have access to at least one other SM60 (non-DS) and a PST as well as white light (pre-filtered and Herschel wedges).
Contact me off list if desired. Thanks.
Tony White

Re: Requesting local contacts for Solar outreach people
I do outreach here in San Jose CA, but will be relocating to Tampa Fl area soon, happy to share with public anywhere! I got interested when I was about 13, so love to share my love of the universe, and our nearest star!
