Late CME arrives

Post by Carbon60 »

Finally the anticipated CME which has been in transit since July 9th when a magnetic filament erupted on the Sun has arrived.

Thanks Mark/Walter.

It was described as a glancing blow on SpaceWeather.com and the realtively weak effect on the magnetometer would support this.

Looking at the blank sun, it could be a while before we see anything else that is geoeffective! Despite the wonderful large sunspots recently departed, there has been almost nothing to report from a magnetic standpoint for quite a while either.

Hi Alexandra,

Yes, only a very weak effect with this one. Activity has been so low of recent that anything is better than nothing.

Let's hope that the lull is only very temporary.

Hi Stu.

Great to see some action on the magnetometer again! Hopefully, there's more activity on the way.

Cheers.
Peter.

I certainly hope so.

Calm before the storm, perhaps?

Cheers

Stu.
