Kp5 Solar Storm from Coronal Holes- Magnetometer response

Post by Carbon60 »

Hi all,

From an otherwise almost blank sun (Earth-side) fast flowing solar wind from open coronal magnetic field lines (coronal holes) sparked a Kp5 solar storm here on Earth and bright aurora.

The storm provoked a respectable magnetometer response. :D

Thanks for looking.

Thanks Stuart - I saw the same very impressive response from my instrument and was just about to look up what might have caused it when I saw your post :bow2

I think this is the first time we have had the opportunity to compare the 'clone' with the 'prototype' for a significant event so.......... here is what I have:

Not a bad agreement :P :o :P

Absolute pleasure, Mike. Glad it all came together. It's quite a lot of work, but perseverance pays!
