Another Kp5 Solar Storm.....March 1st 2015

Post by Carbon60 »

Hi all,

For the second time in fairly quick succession another Kp5 (G1) solar storm is blowing through our region of space, sparking aurora at mid to high latitudes and twitching magnetometers around the globe. As with the recent one, this storm originated from fast flowing solar wind; charged particles, mainly of protons and electrons, spewing from a large Earth facing coronal hole. The effect on Earth's protective magnetic bubble are clear to see as the magnetometer response fluctuates in the chart with every passing pulse.

Thanks for looking.

Looking really good Stuart :bow :beanie: :bow

Just compared my trace and they match almost perfectly - what a fantastic design - thank you :bow2

Sitting here with the rain pouring down and still getting great data from the sun ................... other people really should have a go at your 'Magnetometer Project' Stuart :seesaw

Great addition with your trace Mike! Glad it is performing as expected.

I would love to do this project, alas, logistically the cabling means this is not feasible for me, shame else I would be well onboard with it...

Cheers guys.

Features on Spaceweather.com too :D , but here first!

Glad yours is still working well, Mike. Excellent correlation.

Unfortunate, Mark/Alexandra, that you cannot make one for yourselves
