Moderate G2 geomagnetic storm

Post by grimble_cornet »

To quote from Solarham.com:

A brief period of Moderate (G2) geomagnetic storming was observed at high latitudes early Monday morning. A high speed solar wind stream above 650 km/s flowing from a geoeffective coronal hole was responsible for the increase. Sky watchers at high latitudes should remain alert for visual aurora displays if local light and weather conditions allow as minor storming will remain possible during the next 24 hours.

Here is my magnetometer's record of the event (top trace) plus that from the Chambon la Foret station for comparison:

I'm sure that Stuart will have a more detailed presentation/explanation but I still continue to get pleasure from this project :P

Very nice data Mike :bow :bow :bow

I received an amber alert yesterday but it was a bit pointless as it was raining ;)

Glad it's still working well, Mike. I saw the same thing, but just haven't had the chance to pull the data together.
