13Aug SHG: 2nd installment.

I LOVE finding out about different ways to appreciate the Sun and light in general. Use this forum to post your info or questions about various outside the mainstream ways to appreciate our life giving star!

13Aug SHG: 2nd installment.

Post by p_zetner »

Hello Everyone.

Here is a compilation of solar disk images in four wavelengths from my 13Aug SHG observing session.
(I have four more wavelengths yet to process and analyze!)

Spectral series through the H alpha and CaK absorption lines are also presented.
Note: The orientation of the disks in the spectral series is 180deg from the proper orientation.
Also, the designation of the line-centre image in each series was somewhat crudely done (by eye), so, subject to some error. This means that the numbers showing absolute wavelength offsets are not precise. They are precise in a relative sense.

Cheers.
Peter.

Peter,
Well done mate!
Great spectroheliograms, very well presented.

Mark et al,
One of the significant issues with etalons/ Lyot filters is being able to exactly determine the central wavelength being used -on band? off band? in the xxxA wings??
Not a real problem for digital SHG users. ;)

Cracking images, Peter and an excellent example of this methodology.
