Three days of geomagnetic activity.....

Post by Carbon60 »

A southerly pointing interplanetary magnetic field and moderately fast flowing solar wind from a coronal hole over the last three days together have produced a lingering geomagnetic storm, creating beautiful aurora and geoeffective magnetic perturbations within our Earth environment.

As with magnetometers around the globe, the fluctuations showed up on my garden magnetometer here in Preston, Lancashire, UK.

The prospects for further aurora, driven by these storms, appear to be diminishing as the space weather environment settles down again..... for now.

Thanks for looking.

Stu.
