April Magnetometry so far....
Quite an interesting month so far with a couple of fairly minor events:
An elevated solar wind speed on the 3rd-4th April resulted in some increased auroral activity as did a minor (G1) geomagnetic storm on the 7th-8th.
The visually dramatic AR2529 has been pretty quiet so far with just a few C1 flares (see below) and little significant activity is predicted in the near future
Here is what my magnetometer has picked up:
And a fairly poor animation of one of the C1 flares in AR2529 from 10th April:

Good record! It's a big dinosaur of a spot!
What time did you do the flare animation? I have one in CaK that looks mighty similar...

Cheers Mark - I'm sure Stu will have a better record but I was happy to see the trace bouncing around quite dramatically over the last few days.
Just checked my captures for the time-lapse sequence so ~ from 10.44 to 10.54 ut - or 11.44 to 11.54 am local time if you prefer.

Woohoo! Same time exactly! Must have been the West Midlands Sunday morning gap
Hopefully I should finish processing from this weekend later tonight and will get them up...

Re: April Magnetometry so far....
It will be fascinating to see the same flare in CaK

Re: April Magnetometry so far....
Very nice summary, Mike, combining magnetometry and imaging.
Rushing out to work just now, but I'll also check my data tonight.
Stu.

Here's the CaK equivalent of this event from exactly the same time

Re: April Magnetometry so far....
That's a fabulous CaK animation mate; really nice resolution as well as a great catch.
Must be pretty rare to have Ha and CaK animations taken at the same time and within a few miles of each other
