G1 Solar Storm from Coronal Hole Jan 5th 2017

Post by Carbon60 »

Hi all,

Earth is passing through a region of fast flowing solar wind from a large coronal hole. This is creating an unsettled geomagnetic environment around the globe, sparking aurora in northern and southern regions.

Here are my geomag data:

Given the extent of the coronal hole, this minor (G1) storm is likely to be around for a few days.

Thanks for looking.

Stu.

This is a nice looking hole but sadly not strong enough to give us a good show, apart from you :) :hamster:
