January Geomagnetic Summary

Post by Carbon60 »

Mainly coronal hole induced sub-storms this month from fast flowing solar wind, despite an uptick in solar activity with the appearance of a few sunspots and some minor C-class flares. Lucky for those in a position to see the subsequent aurora. It appears that the large coronal hole shown around Jan 6th made it around again towards the end of the month.

Great stuff these coronal holes show striking regularity.

I find it absolutely wonderful that This data is coming out of G.B. In my reading I have come across so much information from Kew and other observatories there. (like Sept 1 1859 the first time a photo of a solar flare and the magnetometer data were lined up )
