Hi,
A new geomagnetic storm is in progress as a fast flowing wind stream from a large coronal hole is currently pushing against Earth's magnetic bubble. The magnetosphere deflects most of the highly energetic particles, but induced electrical currents flowing in the upper reaches of our atmosphere and beyond drive geomagnetic events detectable here on Earth through our magnetometers.
Here are my data from yesterday and overnight.
Good news for Aurora watchers.
Stu.

Cracking results Stu I got an aurora alert whilst the rain beat down on the windows, always the same!

Re: New geomagnetic storm arrives
Nice record Stu! We're over in Anglesey at the moment, got my eye out for this blowing solar wind, alas the skies have been dominated by cloud and rain too much. I have bought my DSLR and tripod though, so if there is the slightest chance of seeing anything I will try for some pickies!

Thanks Alexandra/Mark,
One day....one day..... we'll get a storm AND clear skies.
Here's an update. The unsettled geomagnetic environment appears to be rumbling on.

Re: New geomagnetic storm arrives
Nice additions! I'm expecting blistering aurora tonight from Anglesey - I have brought my DSLR then yesterday decided to check the batteries and guess what, they're all flat and I left the charger at home. Never rearranged all the accessory compartments after coming back from the eclipse - oh well!

Re: New geomagnetic storm arrives
It would be nice to see the aurora under home skies at least once, Alexandra, but I know what you mean.
Bad luck Mark. Don't you just hate it when that happens? Probably it will rain anyhow.
